A longterm Crypto investment experiment with 1000 usd
I put $50 each into 20 altcoins in July 2021 and tracked it monthly. Here's the portfolio and how it hit 2.5x in four months.

Inspired by similar experiments, I thought it would be cool to invest $1000 into 20 different cryptocurrencies with $50 each. So in this experiment I bought 20 different altcoins costing 50 dollars each and plan to ‘hodl’ them longterm atleast for a year. Mind you in crypto, 1 year is probably equivalent to atleast 3 years in stock market as crypto is 24×7, worldwide market.
As part of this experiment I’ll update this blog every 14th of upcoming months as I bought these 20 crypto today on 14th July 2021. I’m using blockfolio to track investments. Being mostly a swing trader, I’ve not been into investing for ‘long term’ up until now, so this is a small part of my total crypto portfolio for the sake of this experiment of getting the best blockchain projects with excellent developments, growing community, good prospect. So these are the 20 altcoins that I got as part of this experiment :-

14th Aug’21 = 1515 USD (+51.5% cumulative gain)
14th Sep’21 = 2167 USD (+116.7% cumulative gain)
14th Oct’21 = 2218 USD (+121.8% cumulative gain)
14th Nov’21 = 2680 USD (+168% cumulative gain)
(Edit – Nov’21 Update) :- I sold all the crypto I had at this point alongwith this experiment portfolio since the market was overheated with crazy shitcoins & memecoins, looking back in hindsight 2 months later, it was a good decision. I consider this experiment a success at 2.5x return on initial investment in 4 months)
Let’s see how this experiment goes. I’m optimistic in the future of blockchain and cryptocurrencies so I hope this portfolio doesn’t fail in profting in the long run but since nothing is certain in life I don’t rule out the other possibility either 🙂 You may invest the same in this portfolio of projects if you’re enthusiastic on the future of blockchain and crypto.
